The South African Youth Business Chamber (SAYBC) is pleased to release its Triennial Report, documenting a transformative period marked by growth, reform, and strategic positioning. From 2022 to 2024, SAYBC solidified its role as one of Africa’s leading platforms for youth entrepreneurship and market-based empowerment.
This report highlights our key milestones and sets the tone for a bold future under Vision2026.
1. Membership Expansion and National Reach

In 2022, SAYBC had a membership base of just under 2,000. By the end of 2024, that number exceeded 10,000. This exponential growth was made possible through targeted provincial structuring, digital onboarding, and grassroots mobilization.
SAYBC now operates formal chapters in all nine provinces, providing young entrepreneurs—particularly those in rural and peri-urban areas—with structured support, access to networks, and national representation.
2. Over R5 Million Disbursed in Micro-Grants

SAYBC launched and scaled its Micro-Grants Program, awarding over 250 grants ranging from R5,000 to R50,000. These grants were designed to support high-impact, youth-led enterprises in townships and rural communities.
Grants supported a diverse range of ventures including agri-tech, fashion cooperatives, food delivery services, and e-commerce startups. All recipients received mentorship and were monitored by Local Economic Working Groups to ensure accountability and sustainability.
3. Institutional Reform and Modern Governance

The 2024 National Elective Conference ushered in a new era of governance for the Chamber. A leaner and more agile leadership model was introduced to ensure responsiveness, professionalism, and accountability.
Key reforms included:
- Reduction of the Board of Directors from 12 to 6
- NEC streamlined from 13 to 7 positions
- Establishment of a National Management Team (COO, CFO, CAO, Chief of Staff)
- Overhaul of digital infrastructure, including a new website and social media strategy
These reforms enhanced operational efficiency and improved national visibility by over 400 percent.
4. Strategic Partnerships and Continental Engagement

SAYBC deepened partnerships with national and continental bodies, including:
- National Youth Development Agency (NYDA)
- Department of Small Business Development
- Free State Department of Agriculture
- African Union AfCFTA Youth Advisory Council
- BRICS Student Commission
- Zim Youth 2030 Movement
These partnerships enabled the Chamber to implement large-scale programs in trade, agriculture, policy education, and enterprise finance, extending SAYBC’s footprint beyond South Africa.
5. Advocacy and Policy Influence
SAYBC’s advocacy platform gained national momentum with the launch of the “Scrap BEE” campaign, now supported by more than 30 civil society organizations. The Chamber has also submitted multiple policy proposals, including its input into South Africa’s AfCFTA Youth Integration Strategy.
Through these efforts, SAYBC continues to challenge dependency-based models and promote merit-based empowerment rooted in free market principles.
6. Looking Ahead: Vision2026
Adopted in January 2025, Vision2026 outlines SAYBC’s strategy to scale its impact and position itself as a continental leader in youth business development.
Key goals include:
- Expanding membership to 25,000 by 2026
- Rolling out new provincial offices
- Launching the Cape to Cairo Youth Business Corridor
- Hosting the second AfCFTA Youth Trade Mission in Nairobi
- Scaling the Capital Platform to manage R10 million in annual funding deals
With six strategic pillars—governance, inclusion, impact, education, communications, and collaboration—Vision2026 charts the way forward for SAYBC’s continued growth.
From Reform to Renaissance
The 2022–2024 Triennial Report is not just a reflection of progress; it is a statement of intent. SAYBC is committed to building a generation of black youth capitalists—not through quotas or state dependency—but through trade, equity, skills, and access to real market opportunities.
We thank our members, partners, and supporters for walking this journey with us. The work continues, and the future is African.
